Project summary
This project investigates how teachers in Arts and Crafts and Food and Health perceive their teaching practices, professional autonomy, professional community, and related aspects in the implementation of teaching in these two subjects in primary and lower secondary school. The project is part of a qualitative research initiative drawing on Goodlad’s (1979) conceptual curriculum theory to illuminate the relationship between the intentions of the curriculum and teachers’ practical work. The study is based on a re-analysis of two doctoral dissertations conducted across a total of seven schools, and draws on documents, interviews with teachers in both subjects, as well as observations of teaching practices across the two subject areas.
