Project summary

Norwegian higher education policy emphasises internationalisation as a quality driver. The government’s white paper En verden av muligheter – Internasjonal studentmobilitet i høyere utdanning sets a clear ambition: 50% of Norwegian students should have an international study or practice experience during their degree program (Ministry of Education and Research, 2020). Health and social care programs have long offered placements in the Global South, providing students with valuable intercultural learning opportunities. However, little is known about how partner institutions in the Global South experience supervising Norwegian students. This project will explore supervisors’ perspectives on challenges, barriers, and knowledge needs for students before the exchange. A mixed-methods design will combine qualitative interviews with supervisors and a post-placement survey of Norwegian students. Findings will inform better student preparation and strengthen institutional collaboration
