Project summary
The project combines pedagogical development work, professional development, and applied research. It is carried out within the bachelor programme in Social Education, where academic staff lead a practice‑oriented development initiative involving students in exploring transition processes after upper secondary school for individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders. In the pedagogical component, students participate in a teacher‑led research activity that provides hands‑on experience with qualitative data collection. Preliminary findings are presented and discussed in a dialogue conference with relevant interest‑holders, and students will subsequently write their bachelor theses based on the collected data. In parallel, the project is part of a broader research initiative on meaningful activities after upper secondary school. The aim is to investigate how various actors, including staff in the education sector and the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV), understand and facilitate student self‑determination, and how structures and systems influence transition processes.
