Project summary

The purpose of this project is to investigate how participants in international exchange programmes between institutions in the Global South and the Global North acquire, apply, and implement new knowledge after returning to their home institutions. The study seeks to understand which experiences are transferred into professional practice, how newly gained competence is used in daily work and to what extent the exchange influences participants’ professional development, motivation, and attitudes. The project includes both south–north and north–south participants to ensure a reciprocal and balanced knowledge base. This dual perspective allows the study to capture learning and implementation processes across diverse cultural, organisational, and educational contexts. The findings will help identify which elements of the exchange programme have the strongest impact and which structural or cultural factors promote or hinder the implementation of new knowledge
