Project summary

Evidence-based practice (EBP) has been on the agenda for the past decades, and healthcare professionals are increasingly expected to use research evidence to improve healthcare outcomes. To promote the use of evidence in clinical practice and in teaching Bergen University College developed a postgraduate education in evidence-based practice in 2004.

The aim of the project is to develop and improve the postgraduate education and to examine how health and social workers use their skills in evidence-based practice over time. The project will investigate attitude and behavior related to evidence-based practice and explore how participants implement evidence-based practice after completion of the postgraduate education.

EBP Beliefs Scale and EBP Implementation Scale will be used to examine attitudes and behavior related to evidence-based practice, before and after completion of education. In addition there will be performed interviews to investigate how participants implement evidence-based practice and explore the challenges they experience implementing evidence-based practice.
