Project summary

The overall objective of this project is to strengthen and broaden the existing cooperation between HIB, BNU and ECNU within early childhood education. The project will contribute to enhance research based educational cooperation including all cycles from undergraduate to PhD studies. The primary goal of this project is to develop dual master degrees within early childhood education with both BNU and ECNU. In order to achieve this result, the project will be organized as three subprojects:

1. Develop master courses in English in a dual degree at HIB, BNU and ECNU.

2. Establish joint research groups involving researchers, postgraduate, PhD students and kindergartens.

3. Establish a kindergarten network consisting of 12 kindergartens.

The main activities include project group meetings, development of dual master programmes, guest lectures, research group seminars, student mobility and summer schools. The main result will be dual master degrees comprising the possibility for one-year mobility for students. Simultaneously, we will have organized research groups and annual summer schools. The kindergartens play a decisive role by offering work placements for students in the dual degree and by sharing their expertise on practices in ECE. An important result of the subprojects will be to utilize the best resources of the institutions and thereby increase the quality of education and research at all levels. Short-term benefits of the project will be increased student mobility and the establishment of joint research groups. Long-term benefits will be dual degrees linking research and education and making the cooperation sustainable beyond the project period.
