Art-based forms of research

Art-based forms of research (KFF) is HVL's system for peer review of art-based research, performed by faculty members at the Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports (FLKI).

Communicating art-based research

In this context, the concept of art-based research forms encompasses both artistic development and orther art-based, didactic, relational, dialogic and creative processes related to art research relevant for the educational programs at FLKI.

The system operates as a channel for communicating work in art-based research and education which does not lend itself to the format of the traditional scientific article. This work gives faculty members a score in points, like in the NVI-system.

A prerequisite for getting these points is that the artistic research, as presented in the application, cannot be published in the form of a scientific article in the NVI-system.

Appointing a committee of experts

The Faculty of Education, Arts and Sports (FLKI), represented by the dean, appoints a committee of experts. The committee consists of three members and a chair, and operates over a period of two years. The committee is headed by the the vice-dean of research or one of Head of one of the research programs at FLKI.

The three members represent separate fields: music, drama and applied theatre, as well as arts and crafts. When needed, committee members may be appointed ad hoc, to consider contributions in the fields of dance and fiction.
