LU1-KH315P Arts and Crafts 2a, 1-7.

Course description for academic year 2017/2018

Contents and structure

Arts and crafts 2a is based on arts and crafts 1a and 1b and provides in-depth knowledge through creative work, didactic reflection and expanded insight into the subject's visual and material basis in culture. Through the course the student must develop his/her own practical skills in the subject and gain experience with a selection of materials and work methods that provide a learning outcome with regard to the curriculum for primary and lower secondary school, with particular emphasis on primary school. The relationship between curriculum and practice is problematised though critical investigation of tasks, teaching, guidance and evaluation. The link between children's play and learning is raised.

In arts and crafts 2a the student will gain deeper disciplinary knowledge of graphic art (art and visual communication) sculpture, design and architecture. The students can try out different techniques and material groups within these four areas, and will through theory and practical work continue work on aesthetics, creativity and learning processes in the arts and crafts subject.
