Contents and structure

This module will be taught as a combination of theory and practical demonstration of activities.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

  • language learning/teaching theories and methods
  • motivation in the language classroom
  • the national curriculum (LK-06) aims for the English subject
  • the six basic skills as related to the English subject area
  • recent research in language teaching/Learning

 

Skills

  • plan and give English teaching according to the LK-06
  • be a good language model
  • assess, vary and differentiate his/her teaching using a wide span of teaching resources
  • evaluate his/her own teaching practice

 

General competence

  • plan and carry out individual assignments in accordance with ethical requirements and principles
  • articulate ideas and professional standpoints both orally and in written language

Teaching methods

Teaching will consist of lectures and seminars in combination with discussions, group work, and individual activities. Students will gain experience with methods that can be used in the Norwegian school system. The course requires systematic work with exercises and active participation in class.
