Contents

This course builds on the candidates's artistic, didactic and general prior knowledge from the basis for admission in the selected profile subject or profile area and will provide the students with an introduction to the following main topics:

  • didactic and aesthetic theory and research basis for practical-aesthetic learning processes
  • basic theory and discussions concerning aesthetic terms and aesthetic practice
  • practical-aesthetic experience and reflection basis for learning  

 

Course description

Creative and practical-aesthetic learning processes are experience-based learning processes that are linked to active, bodily, experience-oriented, relational, creative and exploratory strategies for holistic learning. The term "practical-aesthetic learning processes" reflects the programme's intention of an innovative and development-oriented focus on the learning processes that have been developed over a long period of time within the practical and aesthetic subjects. The interaction with knowledge of and influences from the surroundings is also a recurring theme. The course provides a general introduction to the theory and research-led basis for analysis and application of creative and practical-aesthetic learning processes in different practice contexts.

The course provides a general introduction to the theory and research-led basis for analysis and application of practical-aesthetic learning processes in different practice contexts. It also includes a delimited project that will form the basis for the candidate's reflection on their own and others' experiences with practical-aesthetic learning processes and their distinctive nature, areas of application, evaluation practice and relevance.

The course will also help prepare the candidate's choice of their master's work by providing an introduction to relevant issues, recent research and development work and relevant R&D projects at the educational institution.

The course MACREL L-02 will focus on the following topics:

  • Aesthetic terms and aesthetic practice historically and now
  • Practical-aesthetic learning processes, technical terminology and knowledge concepts
  • Reflection on research methodologies and field work associated with practical-aesthetic learning processes
  • Learning, forms of aesthetic expression and research
  • Practical-aesthetic learning processes and multimodality
  • Artistic and didactic dissemination concepts
  • Aesthetic production
  • Development of a research outline on a topic related to the profile subject.

Knowledge

·        has broad knowledge of aesthetic terms and aesthetic practice historically and now

·        has in-depth knowledge of different aspects associated with practical-aesthetic learning processes and of the relationship between such processes and different practical-aesthetic subjects and knowledge concepts

·        has knowledge of arts-informed approaches to research and development work

·        has knowledge of aesthetic production processes and artistic communication

·        has in-depth knowledge of different aspects of scientific, artistic and aesthetic argumentation, reflection and theory development associated with practical-aesthetic learning processes

Skills

·        is able to analyse academic issues based on educational practice and practical-aesthetic learning processes

·        is able to analyse and evaluate learning processes within aesthetic production and collaborate with others in such processes

·        is able to communicate extensive independent work and masters the forms of expressions associated with the subject area

·        masters and is able to evaluate improvisation, play and games as methods in aesthetic and didactic practice

·        is able to discuss research and development issues that have been raised in relevant literature and which issues could be raised within the current area

·        is able to apply their knowledge and skills in new areas in the field in order to carry out advanced work assignments and projects

Teaching methods

Teaching and work forms

The master programme is organized through seminars and eLearning activities.The forms of teaching in this course are characterised by variation and include project-based learning work, lectures, group discussions, seminars, group projects with supervision, different types of individual work with supervision, and use of online resources. Practical-aesthetic creative work is included in the course in the form of projects.

 

The candidates are expected to have a computer, microphone, headphones and webcam.

Compulsory learning activities

Course requirements

·        Attendance at seminars and group discussions at the place of study and via the Internet

·        Submission of practical-aesthetic work, reports and reflection notes in accordance with the defined plan

·        Participation in project work, presentations and supervision
