Course description for academic year 2020/2021

Contents and structure

This practical course will contribute towards the students reflecting upon the theory they have learned in the previous semester, as well as connecting theory and practice. During the practice period, the student will go deeper into a theme/subject area that is agreed upon in advance.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE:

The course is an elective course.  The practice period at a work place is unpaid and the student will not be compensated for possible expenses.  The practice period cannot be undertaken at a work place where the student is employed or has previously been employed.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

The student:

can select and go deeper into relevant theory for a specific practice

can acquire knowledge about processes, tools, and methods through practical experience

sees the connection between theory and practice by maintaining an analytical attitude towards his/her experiences in the field.

The student has acquired skills by performing tasks in a practical field setting.

The student:

has developed insight into practical relevant problems

 has learned to adapt to the demands and methods in the workplace

can communicate and work with involved partners.

Entry requirements

At least 82,5 ECTS credits within mandatory courses of the Business administration study program must be completed within the deadline for the application. The student's grade level will be of importance for being accepted in the practical course.

Teaching methods

During the practice period, the student shall actively participate, cooperate with the internal advisor and the company's contact person, and participate in meetings with the company and the university college. The practical placement in the form will be approximately 150 hours. Seminars will be held at HVL during the practice period.
