Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

Through an internship of 10 weeks (of 2 days a week), you gain experience with different forms of work and issues in working life. Through the internship, you learn how to use the theory you have acquired during the previous semesters. You will also learn more about the company where you have your internship, as well as what you are like as an employee. During the internship, you immerse yourself in a topic/subject area that is agreed upon early in the internship.

The tasks are determined in collaboration with the individual company, and will therefore vary depending on which company you have an internship with, and which industry this company operates in. Examples of work tasks can be:

  • work with specific defined projects. like for example. a market analysis
  • information gathering, analysis and presentation
  • work and training in the company's systems
  • work that is part of daily operations, such as e.g. practical work with accounting and payroll-related tasks.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE:

The course is an elective course. The practice period at a work place is unpaid and the student will not be compensated for possible expenses. The practice period cannot be undertaken at a work place where the student is employed or has previously been employed. Students who wish to take the course must send an application. Information about the application process is published in Canvas in the spring semester.

Entry requirements

At least 60 ECTS credits within mandatory courses of the Business administration study program must be completed before the start of the internship period. The student's grade level will be of importance for being accepted in the practical course.

Teaching methods

Internship at the host institution and seminars/gatherings.

Internship: During the internship period, you work at a company with tasks that you and the company come up with together. Duration of internship in business will correspond to 150 hours (10 weeks of 2 days per week). The internship period starts at the turn of the month August/September.

Seminars/gatherings: There are two compulsory assemblies in addition to internships:

  • The first seminar is ahead of the internship. The purpose is to become aware of one's own knowledge, competence and role as an employee.
  • The second seminar takes place approx. three weeks into the internship period. Prior to this, you must submit a short project description that you have prepared together with the host institution. The purpose is to gain an insight into planned tasks, and to discuss how your competence from the study is used in the internship.

Compulsory learning activities

  • Practical placement for 150 hrs
  • Participation in two seminars
  • Deliver a short project description to the second seminar
