Contents and structure

The subject provides insight into an accountant's role and good accounting practice such as:

- Internal control and risk management

- Business understanding

- Regulations for accountants

Knowledge

The student

• has knowledge of the rules governing the rights and duties of state-authorised accountants, including professional responsibilities and ethical guidelines

• has knowledge of the accounting regulations, that is the Accounting Act with regulations, good accounting practices and the money laundering regulations

• knows the requirements for the accounting company's routines in accordance with the risk management regulations and privacy rules

• can discuss and communicate practical issues related to the client's operationalization of accounting routines, documentation, compliance with duties and assessment of risk and materiality

• has knowledge of the most central business routines

• knows the role and responsibilities of the board, general manager and auditor in relation to a business

• knows general controls and can reflect on organizational relationships in connection with internal control, including measures to ensure effective internal control

• knows requirements for security and controls in IT systems

• knows the auditor's role and tasks and can discuss different roles such as auditor, advisers, controller and accountant

• Knows business models, including agreements that can affect different business models

• has knowledge of business understanding for selected industries, including essential revenue models and can see connections to analysis of accounts

• knows the characteristics of different sectors - private, public and voluntary sector

Skills

The student

• can carry out analyzes of routines and internal control in accordance with COSO/COSO2 or equivalent and can propose improvement measures, including compliance with regulations and external requirements for the business.

• has knowledge to understand risk and a risk-based approach, both in customers' and own operations, including carrying out risk analyzes and risk management

• can assess the appropriate organization of data capture and accounting functions so that the desired quality and efficiency is ensured through good routines and internal control

• Can assess central business routines that are essential in order to have control over the finances of a company

• Can analyze the impact of different industries and different businesses on management and control

General competence

The student

• Can acquire up-to-date knowledge within the subject area

• Can convey central subject matter through relevant forms of expression and can exchange viewpoints and experience with other professionals

• Can see the subject in a larger societal perspective

Lecture and assignment seminar.

Written school exam of 4 hours, Grade scale A-F
