FE402 Applied Exercises in Energy Transitions

Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

Through a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials, the students will gain a practical understanding for a() selected theme(s) within the field of energy transition. The written group-based assignment will be performed in groups of 3. Each group will submit one written assignment.

This course builds on the theoretical knowledge, skills and competences gained over numerous courses throughout the Renewable Energy program, by applying this theory to a() practical exercise(s) representative of those which students might encounter later in their academic- and/or working careers.

  • Students will extend through application, knowledge concerning various social-, technological and nature related aspects of the energy transition.

  • Students will develop skills to collect-, evaluate-, and condition information/data pertinent to the energy transition.
  • Students will develop skills to report and communicate complex information/data and results to a broader public.
  • Students will develop group- and teamwork skills.

  • Students will develop competency for tasks relevant to their academic- and/or working careers.

FE401, FE405, BI445, FE406, FE407, GE413, and PL412

Teaching methods

Lectures, seminars, tutorials, guest lectures, and group work/exercises.

Compulsory learning activities

Four (4) assignments. Three (3) of four (4) assignments must be approved before one may take the exam.

Assessment

Written group-based assignment.

Grading scale A-F, where F represents a fail.

The assignment must consist of a total of 4000 words +/- 25 % excluding reference list.

Examination support material

All except artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT.
