Contents and structure

This subject encompasses how organizations plan, implement, and control operations and supply chains to efficiently produce goods and services. This field combines elements of operational management, logistics, procurement, and strategic planning.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

  • Students will have a thorough understanding of operations management and supply chain management, including process design, strategic planning, and risk management.
  • Ability to explain concepts and principles within operations and supply chain management, including their importance in an organizational context.
  • Recognize key elements and patterns within operations and supply chains, such as effective inventory management or optimization of logistics processes.
  • Able to reproduce important theoretical content and apply this in practical situations.
  • Have knowledge of various aspects of operations management and supply chain management, including technological tools and sustainable practices.
  • Define key concepts and models within operations and supply chain management.
  • Explain the connections between different components of the supply chain and operations management, and how they contribute to organizational success.
  • Identify challenges and opportunities within operations and supply chain management.

Prior knowledge in business economics is an advantage.

Teaching methods

Classroom teaching and assignment seminars combined with group work. Group-based guidance as needed.

Compulsory learning activities

  • 1 group-based compulsory work requirement (semester assignment) must be passed before an examination can be taken.
  • 1 group-based oral presentation of the compulsory work requirement (semester assignment) must be passed before an examination can be taken.
  • Mandatory attendance at assignment seminars

A total of 3 compulsory work requirements

Assessment

Individual oral examination of 15 minutes where you will be asked questions from the syllabus that test your knowledge and your ability to apply this knowledge in various contexts.

However, it is always useful to be able to link theories and concepts from the syllabus to practical examples, such as the work you have done in your semester assignment. This can help demonstrate a deeper understanding of the subject
