Johanna Birkeland is a researcher at KINDknow - Kindergarten Knowledge Centre for Systemic Research on Diversity and Sustainable Futures. She researches in the area of early childhood education, and research in partnership with kindergartens is central. One example is the project Sustainable design in kindergarten sector through ‘Exploration and Pedagogical Innovation Laboratory’ [EX-PED-LAB], funded by the Norwegian Research Council.
