
Professional Practice in the Health and Welfare Sector
The research group is rooted in the fields of social work and social educator (vernepleie), and focuses on developing knowledge about professional practice, learning, and service development within the health and social care sectors.
The group has a particular interest in how research-based knowledge is applied in practice, and how professionals interact with users, families, and colleagues in complex care and educational contexts.
Current research projects span from the development of digital learning environments and student-centered teaching methods in higher education, to studies of relationships and collaboration in services for people with intellectual disabilities, as well as in the fields of psychiatry and substance use. The group also explores inclusive practices in schools and physical education, recovery-oriented therapeutic work, and structures for sustainable international mobility in education.
The group’s theoretical foundation is interdisciplinary, drawing on humanistic, social science, and natural science perspectives. Members combine professional experience with research expertise, contributing to practice-oriented knowledge development in close collaboration with education, service providers, and users.
