Contents and structure

The course provides an introduction to the field of teaching and learning in higher education. For those who take the course to document educational competence, the assignments from here can be used in the pedagogical folder that will give you the documentation that is reqired.

After completing the course, the student will have the following total learning outcome:

Knowledge

The student

  • has advanced knowledge of current governing documents related to teaching in higher education

  • has advanced knowledge of different perspectives on teaching, learning and assessment in higher education

  • has advanced knowledge of basic principles for mentoring colleagues and students

  • has advanced knowledge of didactic models for planning, implementing and evaluating teaching.

  • has in-depth knowledge of and can justify his own learning and knowledge views and reflect on his own teaching role

Skills

The student

  • can analyze, plan, implement and evaluate teaching and supervision, both individually and in collaboration with colleagues, in a relevant way that promotes critical reflection and students' learning and professional development
  • can obtain, analyze and use feedback from students and colleagues to systematically develop teaching and learning processes
  • can use relevant methods to guide colleagues in the development of teaching and learning

General competence

The student

  • must analyze, prepare and further develop subject and program plans within their subject areas
  • have a critical and analytical attitude to planning, implementation and evaluation of own and colleagues' teaching
  • have a professional and professional ethical attitude towards the further development of the role as a teacher and part of the university's professional and collegial community

Compulsory learning activities

  • Participation in the two mandatory intensive sessions

The compulsory learning activities must be approved by set deadlines in order to sit for the exam.

Assessment

Written assignment, 2000 words.

Grading: Pass/Fail.

It is possible to submit an improved version of the assignment in the following semester. It is only possible to submit an improved version with the same problem once. After this, a completely new assignment must be written.
