Correction of formal errors (errata) in the doctoral thesis

After the PhD candidate submits the doctoral thesis for evaluation, the candidate will be allowed to correct formal errors in the thesis.

The doctoral thesis will be evaluated as it is submitted, but a list of the errors approved for correction (erratalist) will be sent to the assessment committee for their information. Typical examples of formal errors are typos and punctuation errors. It does not include change of text or deleting text.

An application to correct formal errors in the doctoral thesis must include a complete list of errata. Send a scanned and signed (your signature) form by email to post@hvl.no. In the subject field of the email write “Application to correct formal errors in doctoral thesis”.

The erratas approved for correction may be corrected in the final version of the thesis published in connection to the public defense. A list of approved errata will be added as an insert in the dissertation that is available during defense.

The application to correct formal errors may be submitted only once, and no later than two (2) months after you have submitted the thesis. It is not possible to replace submitted manuscripts with approved articles if they have been accepted after the dissertation was written.
