Project summary

Pedagogical entrepreneurship is about varied and motivating teaching methods, practical and lifelike activities for the students, cooperation with local businesses, organizations and life outside school. Hence, pedagogical entrepreneurship is both a leader philosophy, a way to organize school and specific student activities. However, there are relatively few schools in the Scandinavian countries that give priority to pedagogical entrepreneurship beyond emphasis on establishing and running a juvenile business.

In the PECK-project the goal is to vitalize the pedagogic through student active, practical and relevant teaching methods, in such a way that the conditions are favourable for increased motivation and in-depth learning in the school subjects. Therefore, emphasis on entrepreneurial learning becomes an operationalization of the curriculums in the Nordic countries.

In the PECK project six general secondary schools (two from each country) participate, along with teacher education researchers from the three countries. For the secondary schools the main activity will be exchange, adaptation, and testing of entrepreneurial teaching resources and organization of teaching that paves the way for learning of subjects in school, and you will find URL’s to six of the developed teaching resources from the project below (in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish). Each of these teaching resources is presented by the school that has developed the teaching resource, in what we referred to as Skjema 1 (Form 1) in the PECK-project. Two other forms have also been used in the project. Each school used Skjema 2 (Form 2) to share reflections about adapting a teaching resource that had been shared by a school through Skjema 1 (Form 1) to their school, and Skjema 3 (Form 3) to make observation notes when attending a school’s implementation of the hole or parts of the teaching resource the school had shared through use of Skjema 1 (Form 1). You will find URL’s to the three forms below (in Norwegian).

In addition, project participants have written an anthology based on the exchange, adaptation and testing of teaching resources in the project, and it is pupils, teachers, principals and teacher education researchers who participate in the project that are contributors to the anthology. The anthology has the title Læring for fremtiden - En entreprenøriell didaktikk for arbeid i skolen (Learning for the future - An entrepreneurial didactics for activity in school: in Norwegian). It will be published by Kommuneforlaget, and it will be available in June 2020.
