This page gives an overview of the courses that make up the PhD programme Studies of Bildung and Pedagogical Practices, as well as schedules for the classes. You will also find information regarding admission to single courses.

Students admitted to the PhD programme must enrol in courses in Studentweb when registering for the semester. If you do not have a PhD student enrolment (yet) at HVL, students must apply for single course admission. 

Application deadlines

For courses autumn 2025:
Deadline for exam register for PHD901 is 13 August 2025.
Deadline for exam register for PHD911 is 18 September 2025.

For courses starting in spring 2025, StudentWeb opens on 15 November.
The application deadline for PHD902 and 904 is 9 December 2025.
The application deadline for PHD903, 906, 912 and 916 is 31 January 2026.

Please note that if there are less than 6 applicants for elective courses, the course may be canceled.

Admission for single courses

Courses given by the PhD programme Studies of Bildung and Pedagogical Practices are primarily for candidates who are admitted to the PhD programme, but others may also apply. If you are not admitted to the PhD programme, you may apply for PhD courses here:
