Trade Mission Bergen
March 16-21, 2025
Businet and Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) are pleased to welcome you to the International Trade Mission in Bergen, Norway, from March 16th to March 21st.
This webpage provides information about the conference as well as practical details and will be updated as the event approaches.

Practical information
Transportation
Most of you will arrive by plane at Bergen Airport. We strongly recommend downloading the SKYSS app before your arrival. In the app, you can purchase tickets. For most of you, the best option will be to buy a one-zone, 7-day student season ticket upon arrival at Bergen Airport for NOK 163 (€14). This ticket covers transportation by light rail to and from the airport, as well as unlimited travel by bus and light rail within the city (including to and from campus) for seven days.
Single tickets (NOK 29/€2.50) can be purchased from ticket machines, including those at the airport. Remember to carry your phone (if purchasing through the app) and your student ID whenever using public transportation.
If you prefer to take a taxi from the airport, it is recommended to use either Uber or Bergen Taxi rather than the first taxi in line. A taxi from the airport to the hotel typically costs around NOK 600 (€50).
Weather
Bergen is a rainy city, and March can be unpredictable. Check the weather forecast at www.yr.no to ensure you bring appropriate clothing.
If you plan to go hiking in the mountains around the city, keep in mind that temperatures are usually lower than in the city, and rain in Bergen often turns into snow in the mountains.
Food and drink
The student cafeterias and coffee shops on campus offer a wide selection of food and drinks throughout the day. In particular, themain cafeteria serves a "daily special" dinner at very reasonable prices (€7-€9) every day from 2 PM to 6 PM.
There are, of course, many bars and restaurants in the city center; see, for instance, this guide for an overview.
Exploring the city
Depending on your interests, there are plenty of things to do in and around Bergen during your free time. The website Study Bergen is a great starting point for students, while Visit Bergen is the official tourist information site, offering details on various attractions, activities, and a calendar of events and festivals.
A classic recommendation is to take the Mount Fløyen Funicular. The funicular is easily accessible in the heart of the city center and offers spectacular views from the top. Depending on your interests, you can enjoy a hot chocolate at the mountain café or embark on longer walks and hikes into the city mountains.
Relevant for some missions
Wine and liquor are only sold in designated Vinmonopolet stores in Norway (not in regular supermarkets). One of these stores is located in the building next to the hotel.
As alcohol is more expensive in Norway than in many other countries (and since some of you may need to bring alcohol for your missions), it is worth checking the duty-free quotas for importing alcohol into Norway.
If you need to bring more than the duty-free allowance, you can use the Norwegian Customs App or contact customs at the airport to pay taxes. The process is simple, and the taxes are relatively low.
