Arbeids- og kompetanseområde
Arbeidet som fysioterapeut på Smerteklinikken og på Nakke- og Ryggpoliklinikken på Haukeland Universitetssykehus frem til 1997. Var etter det på Universitetet i Bergen, Institutt for global helse og samfunnsmedisin, Fag- og Forskningsgruppen i Fysioterapi, fra 1997 til 2017, først som stipendiat, seinere som studieleder og førsteamanuensis, og som professor i fysioterapi fra 2011. Bygget opp og ledet Masterstudiet i manuellterapi for fysioterapeuter 2000-2014. Har undervist mye om muskel- og skjelettplager og i forskningsmetode for masterstudenter (helsearbeidere, mest for fysioterapeuter). Har ledet div. forskningsprosjekt knyttet til undersøkelse og behandling av pasienter med ryggplager og med generaliserte muskel- og skjelettplager. Prosjektleder for FAktA: Muskel-skjelettplager - Funksjon, aktivitet og arbeid. Begynte på Høgskulen på Vestlandet (HVL) i 2015 i full stilling som professor i fysioterapi, og hadde 20% ved UiB frem til juli 2017. Ble prodekan for forskning ved Fakultet for helse- og sosialvitenskap, HVL, fra januar 2018 til desember 2022. Ble professor emerita fra januar 2023.
