Arbeids- og kompetanseområde
David har sin doktorgrad fra Universitetet i Manchester og forsker på fornybar havenergi. Nærmere bestemt forsker han på flytende havvind, bølgeenergi og tidevannsstrøm, med fokus på hydrodynamiske interaksjoner og tekniske-økonomiske analyser. David er forskningsgruppe leder for Vind, vann og bølger gruppen (W3) og koordinerer forskningsprosjekter på høgskolens hydrodynamikklaboratorium MarinLab, i samarbeid med studenter, næringsliv og andre forskningspartnere. Han underviser i MAS540 Fornybar havenergi, MAS532 Marine konstruksjoner, og MAS304 Eksperimentelle metoder for marine ingeniører.
