- Krigshandlingane og drapa på sivile må ta slutt. Folkeretten må respekterast og partane må koma i gang med reelle forhandlingar, seier rektor Gunnar Yttri. 

HVL følgjer krisa og norske styresmakter si handtering nøye. Rektor fortel at mange tilsette og studentar kjenner på uro og sorg.

– Tilsette og studentar med familie eller andre samband i regionen er særleg utsette. Men fleire er fortvila og føler på uro over dei grufulle handlingane som har skjedd og som framleis skjer.

Yttri meiner det kan vera ei god støtte og hjelp for tilsette og studentar å snakka om det som uroar og tyngjer.

- For tilsette er næraste leiar eit naturleg kontaktpunkt. Så har vi i tillegg tilboda innan bedriftshelsetenesta. For studentane har vi tilbod om samtalar og støtte gjennom studentrådgivingstenesta i HVL. Dertil har vi studentsamskipnaden Saman sine tenester, seier rektor.

Israel/Gaza crisis affects employees and students at the Western University of Applied Sciences in Norway (HVL).

– The act of war and the killing of civilians has to end. International law must be respected and partners must initiate actual negotiations, says rector Gunnar Yttri.

HVL pays close attention to the crisis and the Norwegian government’s handling of it. The principal says many employees and students are feeling worried and sad.

– Employees and students with families or other connections to the region are particularly vulnerable. But more are in despair and feel worried about those horrific acts and acts that are still happening.

Yttri argues it can be supportive and helpful for employees and students to talk about what evokes those difficult emotions.

– For employees, their closest leader may be a natural point of contact. Additionally, we provide services within corporate health. For the students, we offer conversations and support through student counseling at HVL. Additionally, we have the services provided by the student welfare organization Saman, says the principal.
