Mandate for the Division of Academic Development (ALU)

ALU is a division under the pro-rector for education. ALU contributes to the development of learning and teaching for students and employees. ALU's three main areas of responsibility are:

  1. Educational expertise (1)
  2. Research and development
  3. Management advisory service

ALU supports both the faculties as well as running its own activities to develop learning and teaching at HVL. The activity focuses on:

  1. development of research-based competence enhancement for lecturers' educational competence and for students' learning competence
  2. development of research-based and student-centred forms of work and teaching
  3. strategic advisory service to all levels of education management, from course and subject managers to the rectorate when it comes to the development of learning and teaching in higher education

ALU’s area of responsibility requires both academic, technical and administrative employees with a high level of professional competence in their respective areas of expertise.

Responsible teams

In order to give lecturers and students support in the development of their teaching and learning, ALU is organized in four teams.

  • Team University pedagogy
  • Team Universal design in ICT
