Marketing, Tourism and Innovation er ei tverfagleg samansett gruppe forskarar som ønskjer å støtte aktørar som jobbar for å utvikle, leie, marknadsføre og gjere stadar betre.
Stadar bidreg til vår identitet slik vi medverkar til staden sin identitet, natur, kultur og samfunn. For den nordiske regionen og andre, er ansvarleg utvikling av urbane områder, byar, bygder og naturområder, stadig meir utfordrande som følgje av samfunnsendringane som globalisering, folkevekst og teknologi gir.
Den nordiske regionen har generelt ei tynn befolkning, men lir i aukande grad av turismepress og må agere på spørsmål om ansvarleg og berekraftig utvikling til det beste for alle. Stadar definerer, støttar og utfordrar oss. Nokre plassar vert huska som ein del av kven vi er, andre av turistar, immigrantar, flyktningar, grunneigarar, bebuarar, utforskarar, borgara og så vidare. Andre vert endra, utvikla, bygde eller øydelagde.
I ei verd som er stadig meir kompleks og hurtigendrande, treng vi ein tverrfagleg tilnærming for å kome fram til nye løysingar. Målet for forskingsprogrammet er å bidra til stadforsking og til å formidle stadteori og -kunnskap til andre forskarar, politikkutformarar og praktikarar, med tanke på ansvarleg stadutvikling.
Partnarskap
The Institute of Place Management (IPM) ved Manchester Metropolitian universitetet er eit internasjonalt organ som støttar personar som er engasjerte i å utvikle, leie og gjere plassar betre. Målet er å utvikle og støtte danninga av formelle strukturar knytt til stadutvikling og sikre profesjonelle standardar for dei som er involverte i å leie, utvikle og marknadsføre stadar. Instituttet jobbar med politikkutformarar, praktikarar og tilbydarar. Nordic Place Research har vore partner med IPM sidan vår 2018.
