Keynote by Knut Steinar Engelsen and Vigdis Vangsnes:  

Rehearsal as means for building improvisational skills in teaching: Rehearsing Teaching Professionally - the ReTPro-projects.

Engelsen and Vangsnes will draw a line from their previous work on improvisation in teacher education to the ongoing ReTPro-study on systematic and reflection-based rehearsals and modelling as means for building student teachers’ teaching repertoires. The ReTPro-study will, among other things, be discussed considering Grossman et. al’s pedagogies of practice. They will address and discuss if and how pre-designed and scripted rehearsal activities also facilitate improvisational and open-designed approaches in teacher education.
