Bradford’s presentation will provide a look at the process of engaged, community-based research to make a difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. By applying a Social Organization Theory of Action and Change when working with local stakeholders, he will provide insights into how to maximize community capacity-building. We will then engage in an activity to organize approaches to applied research in community settings to demonstrate the skill portability/transferability from classroom instruction to community application.

Dr. Bradford B. Wiles has worked at Kansas State University for 11 years. He is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in Early Childhood Development. His applied and basic research focuses on building resilience in vulnerable families generally, and addressing access to quality, affordable early care and education; systems affecting health in rural communities; and evaluation of programs focusing on early childhood. He will be in Norway in August with his wife and two children, and will focus on contributing to the evaluation of the MoveEarly project’s intervention uptake, application, and fidelity
