Jeg er professor i jordmorfag ved fagseksjon for master i jordmorfag og helsesykepleie, ved Institutt for helse-og omsorgsvitskap.
Jeg utdannet meg som sykepleier ved Stavanger Røde Kors Sykepleier høyskole i 1982. Tok jordmorutdanning i Bergen i 1989. Har klinisk praksis som jordmor ved Kvinneklinikken i Bergen, og var senere fagutviklingsjordmor i praksis. Jeg har vært fast ansatt ved jordmorutdanningen siden 2005. I 2014 fullførte jeg min ph.d. ved Karolinska Institutet, avdeling for ‘Kvinnors och Barns Hälsa’, med prosjektet 'Factors associated with having the first baby at an advanced age'.
Jeg underviser og veileder på masterprogrammet i jordmorfag. Og har vært emneansvarlig for masteremnet fra 2017-2024. For tiden er jeg ansvarlig for emnet Vitskapsteori, forskingsetikk og metode. Jeg er veileder for i master- og ph.d-kandidater i ulike tematikker med ulike metodiske tilnærminger inne jormorfag og reproduktiv helse.
