HVL Library Talks: The Norwegian Publication Indicator

This session gives an introduction to the Norwegian Publication Indicator (NPI). In the Norwegian system, certain types of output/publications in accredited publication channels may be awarded publication points. For this to happen, the publication must be registered in the Norwegian Research Information Repository (NVA). The session addresses: 

• the intention behind the implementation of the publication indicator 

• which types of output/publications may (not) be awarded publication points 

• the weighting of academic publications according to level in the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers (”Kanalregisteret”) and publication type 

• the Ministry of Education and Research’s definition of an academic publication 

• the calculation method for publication points 

• the criteria for a publication channel (journal or publisher) to be approved in the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers

• how you can suggest a publication channel for level 1 or level 2
