Her vil du finne relevante kurs og webinarer for ph.d.-studenter.
Collaborative Childhoods Practicum
The course is running in January 2026 and it is intended for a practitioner audience--teachers, social workers, youth workers, anyone in peadiatrics, or clinical/community psychologists, but also those with 'desk jobs' charged with designing policy and programmes for children and young people, all of who may be interested in doing some professional development, becoming acquainted with childhood studies and collaborative approaches to working with children and young people, who would like to maybe do things a bit differently, and to meet other like minded practitioners to work in a community of practice which they can hopefully also maintain post course.
It's a 10-week course that will run online in the evenings (6-8pm London time). It will be in English but open to anyone to apply from any part of the world where the timezones align. The plan is to assemble a small group, not more than 12 participants, and there are currently 9 places still available. The deadline for applications is Monday 3rd November.
For the teaching part of the course I will drawing on my own background, research and teaching experience in childhood studies and children's participation as well as experiences of creating childhood publics. I also will be joined by two incredible guest speakers whose work--in counselling in social work adjacent settings and in school settings respectively--I really admire and I am really delighted that they agreed to be part of the course. As the course name suggests there is a very practical element to it and those applying need to be able to bring with them 'a moment of practice' they are willing to share and workshop with the group along the lines of the training.
More details about the course, including fees, can be found here in the link just below. There are two discounted places available too with the possibility of one or both of those fees being waived if enough employer-funded places can be filled:

DocTalent4EU
DoY Summer School Early Childhood in Utrecht
Dynamics of Youth is a multidisciplinary platform that spans all departments of Utrecht University. Dynamics of Youth facilitates all researchers in the field of child development. The Early Childhood community specifically focuses on development from conception to six years of age.
During the summer school, you will get updated on research in the field of early development. We will discuss the state-of-the-art knowledge in different key disciplines studying early development (from conception to six years of age), including:
- Brain development, including neuroanatomy, language development, and cognitive development;
- Global health, equality, diversity, and inclusion in early childhood education;
- Interdisciplinary perspectives on subjects like feeding, sleep, and play.
After an update of your theoretical knowledge in the morning, we will use the afternoons for excursions to our research labs and workshops on writing grant proposals. During these workshops, we give you the opportunity to write your own grant proposal and present it to our interdisciplinary team of researchers.
The summer school is meant for:
- (Prospective) Master students in the field of Early Childhood
- PhD students in the field of Early Childhood, who are curious about perspectives from different disciplines in the field
- Professionals who work with infants and young children, who are research-minded, want to learn more about child development from different perspectives, and have finished at least a Bachelor's degree
You can sign up via our website: https://utrechtsummerschool.nl/courses/social-sciences/early-childhood-research
The full program will appear on this website in April.
